The legendary French automotive brand Bugatti, based in Molsheim, France, is one of the most iconic car manufacturers in the world. It is renowned for producing some of the most technologically advanced cars globally. The company achieved multiple world records with the launch of its infamous hypercar, the Bugatti Veyron. Introduced in 2005, the Veyron became the first production car to exceed the 400 km/h barrier, setting a new standard for speed with its top speed of 408.47 km/h. It held the title of the fastest street-legal production car of its time. In 2010, the car was launched in India as well. However, its exorbitant price tag of Rs 16 crore made it too expensive and outrageous for any buyers in the country. Recently, some pictures from 2011, when the company brought the car to India, have been shared online.
The pictures, particularly of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport model, which was brought to India for test drives, have been shared on Car Crazy India’s Instagram page. The images depict a black 2011 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport model being refueled at a local fuel pump in Delhi. The caption of the picture states, “Just imagine going for refueling at your local pump and seeing a Bugatti Veyron there. That was the situation for a few people from Delhi in 2011.” In the pictures, the car can be seen attracting a large crowd at the pump.
Another video captures the Bugatti Veyron driving on the streets of Delhi. The video, shared on the YouTube channel of punk0311, shows the black Veyron Grand Sport cruising on the roads accompanied by a Bentley Flying Spur. The two cars are being chased by the person recording the video and their friend. Both of them are attempting to capture the car in their video and can be heard screaming with joy upon witnessing this magnificent hypercar in the country. The Bugatti Veyron and the Bentley Flying Spur are also being followed by an Aston Martin Vantage supercar.

Regarding the Bugatti that came to India, it was the Veyron Grand Sport variant. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport was equipped with an 8.0-liter engine that produced a maximum power of 1001 Bhp and 1,250 Nm of torque. It could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 407 km/h. The car is quite rare, with only 450 units produced, including the coupe, roadster, Supersports, and other variants.
The Veyron was constructed using components made of special materials such as titanium, carbon fiber, and magnesium. Its W16 8-liter engine was meticulously assembled by hand at Bugatti’s headquarters in Molsheim, France. Despite its high price tag, Volkswagen reportedly incurred a loss of $6.25 million on every Bugatti Veyron sold due to high research and development costs. The car utilized custom-built tires from Michelin, known as the Pilot Sport 2s. Replacing these tires would cost owners a staggering $30,000 to $42,000.
