A preview for Gran Turismo – the movie – has been released, providing our first look at the film based on the life of a video gamer who became a racing driver.
UPDATE, 3 May 2023: The first teaser of the upcoming Gran Turismo movie – based on the popular Sony Playstation video game – has been released online.
Set to feature plenty of drama and racing, the film follows the true life story of Jann Mardenborough (played by Archie Madekwe) as he transitions from video-game player to professional racing driver.
The movie appears as if it will cover the harsh realities of racing, including the pit-lane politics as well as the physical difficulties of endurance racing.
The original story continues unchanged below.
The film’s first preview has just been released, giving an early look at what the audience can expect when it hits cinemas in August 2023.
The film stars Orlando Bloom (Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean), David Harbour (Stranger Things, Quantum of Solace), Geri Halliwell-Horner (also known as Ginger Spice), and automotive YouTube star Emelia Hartford, with Archie Madekwe playing the lead role of Jann Mardenborough.
Previewed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the trailer is a mix of footage from the movie as well as video clips shot behind-the-scenes, while some of the main actors provide some commentary on the upcoming film.
The same technology used to shoot the recent Top Gun was used in Gran Turismo, including cameras that can have the main sensor and lens separated from the body, allowing for scenes to be captured in high definition within the tiny cabins of race cars such as Le Mans prototypes.
Gran Turismo is due to be released in Australian cinemas on Thursday 10 August 2023.
