Chinese car maker Great Wall Motors (GWM) has added a new version of its Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid small SUV rival, with fewer features and a lower price.
A cheaper version of the 2023 GWM Haval Jolion Hybrid small SUV is now available to order in Australia, ahead of first showroom arrivals in the coming weeks.
Priced from $36,990 drive-away, the new Jolion Lux Hybrid is $3000 cheaper than the top-of-the-range Ultra Hybrid, and matches the mid-grade Lux version of the petrol version on standard technology and safety.
However, GWM (Great Wall Motors) Haval continues to ask $6000 extra for hybrid technology over to the standard petrol Jolion (compared to about $2500 for a hybrid Toyota Corolla Cross, over a petrol version).
The Jolion Lux Hybrid is powered by the same 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and electric propulsion system as the Ultra Hybrid, with a claimed 139kW and 375Nm, and claimed fuel efficiency of 5.0 litres per 100km.
Its standard feature list matches the petrol Jolion Lux, aside from the inclusion of the Ultra Hybrid model’s hybrid-specific front bumper, 18-inch wheels (vs the petrol Jolion Lux’s 17-inch alloys), blue headlight accents, and hybrid badges.
Six colours are available: Hamilton White, Golden Black, Glacier Blue, Smoke Grey, Azure Blue and Mars Red.
The 2023 GWM Haval Jolion Lux Hybrid is available to order now.
