Stellantis Recalls 76,000 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Minivans To Fix Engine Issue

Stellantis is recalling 76,000 Chrysler plug-in hybrid minivans because a short circuit could cause the engine to unexpectedly shut down. The sudden loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

The recall covers 67,000 2017-23 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans in the United States and about 9,000 in other countries.

The internal transmission wiring connector may short-circuit, potentially causing the engine to unexpectedly shut down. Chrysler told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is aware of 307 warranty claims and/or customer complaints related to this issue, but no crashes or injuries.

As a remedy, dealers will update the power inverter module and instrument panel cluster software for free.

Chrysler will begin notifying owners March 8, but those with further questions in the meantime can contact the brand at 800-853-1403 (Stellantis’ number for this recall is 03A) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
