To maintain its position as the leader in the electric four-wheeler segment after the launch of Mahindra’s newest EV product the XUV400, Tata Motors has now slashed the prices of its best-selling model the Nexon EV. Tata Motors EV subsidiary will now be retailing the Nexon range with a starting price of Rs 14.49 lakh which will go all the way up to Rs 18.99 lakh. The company has also introduced a new variant for the Nexon EV Max called the XM trim and has priced it at 16.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
In terms of the pricing for individual trims and models, the entry-level Nexon Prime’s XM variant will now cost Rs 14.49 lakh, which prior to this price reduction retailed for around Rs 14.99 lakh. Additionally, Nexon Prime’s XZ+ and XZ+ (LUX) models will now become cheaper by Rs 31,000 and will now cost Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 16.99 lakh respectively.
Meanwhile, the heaviest price reductions will be offered in the longer-range Nexon EV Max models. Starting off with the 3.3 kW charger option models, the XZ+ variant of the 3.3 kW charger Nexon EV Max has now been priced at Rs 17.49 lakh. It now gets a Rs 85,000 reduction. Additionally the XZ+ (LUX) variant of the 3.3 kW charger Nexon will now cost Rs 18.49 lakh which also gets a Rs 85,000 price cut.
Finally, the Nexon EV Max with the 7.2 kW charger also gets Rs 85,000 price cut for the XZ+ and XZ+ (LUX) variants. From now the XZ+ and XZ+ (LUX) variants will be priced at Rs 17.99 lakh and Rs 18.99 lakh. Prior to this reduction these variants retailed for Rs 18.84 and Rs 19.84 respectively.
Furthermore, Tata Motors has also increased the Nexon EV Max’s range to 453 kilometres (MIDC cycle), which is 16 kilometres more than the model’s previously stated range of 437 kilometres. The enhanced range will also be made accessible to Nexon EV Max users who already own the model starting on February 15 via a software update. The new range upgrade will be available to the 40.5kWh battery pack models only. The Prime variants, which have a smaller 30.2kWh battery, have not received a range upgrade.
According to industry experts and reports the new price reductions have been made to compete with country’s largest utility manufacturer Mahindra’s XUV400. The Nexon EVs new entry level model’s price now undercuts the Mahindra’s XUV400 by almost Rs 1.5 lakh. The company has also enhanced the range of the Nexon EV to also give the XUV400 a stiffer competition. The company has taken all the necessary precautions to maintain its position as the segment and market leader in the electric mobility space in the country.
The company as mentioned has also launched the new Nexon EV MAX XM trim in the portfolio. This new trim has been introduced with an attractive price of INR 16.49 lakh, this variant will come equipped with Electronic Parking Brake, Automatic Climate control, Electronic Stability Program (ESP ®) with i-VBAC, Projector Headlamps with LED DRLs and LED tail lamps, Push Button Start, Digital TFT Instrument Cluster, ZConnect Connected Car tech with Smartwatch Connectivity and Rear Disc Brakes.
