MG Motor has just launched the upgraded, 2022 version of its flagship luxury SUV – the Gloster. The 2022 MG Gloster is priced from Rs. 31.99 lakh, ex-showroom, and the SUV takes on the Toyota Fortuner and the Isuzu MU-X – two other body-on-ladder luxury SUVs sold in India in the Rs. 40 lakh segment.

The MG Gloster, which is based on a Chinese SUV – the Maxus D90, is a much larger vehicle than the Toyota Fortuner. In fact, the Gloster is 190mm longer, 71mm wider and 32mm taller than the Fortuner. Even its wheelbase, at 2765 mm, is 20 mm longer than that of the Fortuner.
What’s new in the 2022 Gloster?
The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) of the 2022 Gloster gets new features such as Door Open Warning (DOW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Lane Change Assist (LCA). These features are in addition to the 30 other features already available with the SUV’s ADAS suite. As for stylistic changes, there’s the all-new British Windmill Turbine-themed alloy wheels available only in the four wheel drive trims while all trims get a new Deep Golden Colour paint scheme. The SUV is also available in three other colours: Metal Black, Metal Ash and Warm White.

Key features of the 2022 MG Gloster
Key features of the 2022 Gloster include a 31.2 cm Touchscreen and High-Quality Audio System with 12 speakers with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, an intelligent 4WD, an all-terrain system with 7 modes, a dual panoramic electric sunroof, a 12-way power adjust driver seat, driver seat massage and ventilation feature, and wireless charging. The SUV is powered by a 2 liter-4 cylinder twin turbo diesel engine that puts out a best-in-class power output of 218 Bhp, while the torque output of 480 Nm is 20 Nm less than that of the Toyota Fortuner Diesel. On the lower trims, the same engine is available with a single turbo, and lower outputs of 161 Bhp-375 Nm. An 8 speed torque converter automatic gearbox is offered as standard across both rear wheel drive and four wheel drive variants of the MG Gloster. In comparison, the Fortuner Diesel gets a 6 speed torque converter automatic.
