Updated Hero Xpulse 200T leaked before official launch

Just after a few days of spotting a test mule of the updated Hero Xpulse 200T surfaced on the internet, a few studio shots of the motorcycle have leaked on the internet. It confirms that the launch of the new Hero Xpulse 200T is just around the corner, and the Indian two-wheeler major has carried out some minor tweaks to the design of the motorcycle to make it more appealing than before.

The leaked studio shots of the updated Hero Xpulse 200T by ACI reveal a new dual-tone grey and lime green colour, with more dual-tone paint schemes expected to be offered in the motorcycle this time. Compared to the version of the Xpulse 200T which was sold earlier, the new updated version gets a few added visual bits, such as a small black tinted visor above the rounded headlamp. At the front, the motorcycle also gets rubber gaiters for the front telescopic forks, which make the motorcycle look rugged when viewed head-on.

Moving towards the side profile, the updated Hero Xpulse 200T now gets a bigger belly pan, which now fully covers the lower portion of the exhaust bend pipe. The grab rail for the pillion rider has also been redesigned, which is now more functional to look at with its tubular design. The long single-piece seat also looks a bit new, with more padding and a dual-tone black and grey look to it. The side body panels below the rider’s seat now get body-coloured treatment, unlike the all-black finish in the previous version. There are no changes to the tail lamp, LED rounded headlamp and clear lens turn indicators, and the previously available fully-digital instrument console is also expected to be retained.

Updated engine as well

Apart from these visual changes, the new Hero Xpulse 200T is expected to receive the new four-valve layout for its 200cc engine, much like the updated Xpulse 200 4V. Currently, this engine claims a power output of 19.2 PS and a peak torque output of 17.35 Nm and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox in the Xpulse 200 4V. It is expected that the new Xpulse 200T will likely retain the engine in this same state of tune.

The new Hero Xpulse 200T will be positioned above the Xtreme 160R and below the other 200cc motorcycles from Hero Motocorp, including the Xtreme 200S and Xpulse 200 4V. The new Xpulse 200T will directly compete with the newly-launched TVS Ronin, apart from a slew of premium 150cc commuter offerings like the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Bajaj Pulsar N160.
